Bill Li is a Senior Investment Officer and Director of Portfolio Completion Strategies at Massachusetts Pension Reserves Investment Management Board (MassPRIM), the USD 70 billion Massachusetts public pension plan. At MassPRIM, he is responsible for unconstrained strategies investing and oversees approximately $10 billion in investments. Prior to this, he was a Senior Quantitative Researcher at Costar Portfolio Strategy in Boston and a Portfolio Analyst at Allianz SE in Frankfurt, Germany. Bill is also a Qualified Futures Practitioner in China. Bill graduated from Brandeis University with a master’s Degree in Economics and Finance and holds the CFA charter and the CAIA charter.

Christophe L’Ahelec is a Senior Principal in the Capital Markets department, at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board where he is responsible for the portfolio construction and risk management of the external manager portfolio. Prior to that he was a quantitative analyst and assistant portfolio manager at Mignon Genève SA/Alpstar Asset Management, in Switzerland, where he took part in the creation and portfolio management of a European systematic market neutral fund. Christophe is a graduate engineer in Finance and Applied Mathematics from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Informatique et de Mathématiques Appliquées de Grenoble, France and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.

Craig serves as the Chief Investment Officer and is a Managing Partner of Corbin Capital Partners, a New York-based independent alternative asset management firm that specializes in multi-strategy and opportunistic credit investing for pension plans, sovereign wealth funds, various other institutional investors, and high net worth clients globally. As of May 1st, 2019, Corbin has $7.3 billion in assets under management. Craig works on all aspects of the firm’s investment process with a special focus on implementation capabilities, co-investments and direct investing efforts, as well as new initiatives. Prior to joining Corbin in January 2002, Craig was the Risk Manager at Grantham Mayo Van Otterloo & Co. LLC (“GMO”), a then $20+ billion institutional investment management firm, where he had responsibilities for firm wide market risk management, hedge fund product development and derivatives strategy. Prior to joining GMO, he was a Vice President in the Equity Derivatives group at Salomon Smith Barney, and previously worked in the Equity Structured Products group at Morgan Stanley. Craig graduated from Dartmouth College with a B.A. in Government, and he was awarded the CFA charter in 1997.

Ilario Scasascia, CAIA, is Head of Alternatives & Multi Manager Solutions, Chairman of the Alternative Investments Committee and Executive Director at Vontobel Asset Management. Vontobel Asset Management is one the largest asset managers in Switzerland with CHF 118 billion assets under management.

He joined in 2010 as Portfolio Manager and Hedge Fund Analyst. In his current role he leads the effort in research, manager selection, portfolio investments including alternative risk premia and hedge funds. As a member of the senior management of Vontobel Asset Management he is also responsible for the alternative investments within the Vontobel Group.

Prior to joining Vontobel Asset Management, Ilario Scasascia worked at Quadriga Wealth Management, a Swiss-based alternative investment management firm. In his position as Portfolio Manager and Hedge Fund Analyst, he was in charge of the manager selection and portfolio management of fund of hedge funds.

Before joining Quadriga Wealth Management, Ilario Scasascia worked at BearingPoint as Management Consultant in the department Risk & Finance Management.

Ilario Scasascia graduated from the University of Zurich with a Masters in Finance and attended an Executive Education Program at the Yale School of Management in New Haven (USA). He is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA).

Vasily Prosolupov, CFA, CAIA, is the Director, Absolute Return Investments at Alberta Teachers’ Retirement Fund (ATRF), an independent corporation which manages and administers pension plans for over 80,000 retired and active teachers in the province of Alberta, Canada. Mr. Prosolupov has 12 years of industry experience which includes commercial lending, private equity, private infrastructure investing and hedge fund investing. In his current role, Mr. Prosolupov is primarily responsible for the sourcing and evaluation of investment opportunities, portfolio construction and research.

Mr. Prosolupov graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science Degree, Specialization in Mathematics and Finance (with Distinction). He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designations.

Christopher Ayton

Chris Ayton is a Partner and Portfolio Manager of Alternative Investments International, L.P. and Berens Global Value Fund. He joined Alternative Investment Group in March 2008 and is based in London. He has more than 20 years of manager research experience and focuses on identifying and evaluating long-only and long/short strategies and managers, especially in Emerging and Frontier Markets, Asia and Europe.

Previously, Chris was a senior member of the investment team at leading investment consulting firm Stamford Associates Limited where he spent 12 years, over half of which was as the firm’s Head of Manager Research. While this position provided exposure to many investment strategies and geographies, Chris specialized throughout his tenure in managers investing in Asian markets, including Japan. Chris was also instrumental in establishing Stamford Associates’ manager research disciplines that were adopted across the firm. Prior to joining Stamford Associates in 1995, Chris worked at Bacon & Woodrow.

Chris graduated in 1994 with a BSc. in Economics from University of Southampton.

Prior to founding Synergy Fund Management Group, Ms. Lau spent 8 years at Search Investment Group helped the Principal, Mr. Robert Miller, to build an institutional investment platform for Global and Asia Hedge Funds and PE Funds. Ms. Lau built and setup SAIL Advisors Limited in 2003 from Family Office to one of the largest Funds of Funds in Asia, where she was the CEO, CIO, and Member of Board of Directors for Search Investment Group.

Prior to Search Investment Group, Ms. Lau was one of the founding partners of JL Capital Partners Limited, an Asian macro hedge fund management based in Singapore. Before JL, Ms. Lau spent 13 years with Salomon Brothers, based in New York and Hong Kong. In Hong Kong, she helped to build the Salomon Brothers Asset Management business and setup Pan-Asia focus funds including hedge funds and long only fund operation where she was responsible for managing Pan-Asian equity portfolios and convertible bond portfolios. Jarkko Matilainen

Jarkko Matilainen is one of the two Co-Founders of NorthPeak Governance LP, a corporate governance firm established in 2018 and based in Helsinki, which is focused on services of fund governance and independent non-executive directorships. Currently, as part of NorthPeak activity, he serves as an independent non-executive director for funds domiciled in Cayman Islands and Ireland. Previously, 2003 – 2006, Jarkko was a portfolio manager and 2006 – 2018 the head of hedge funds at Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company having overall responsibility for the team, portfolio and investments. Varma, which has carried USD 5-10 bln allocation to hedge funds for the last 10 years, is one of the largest hedge fund investors in Europe. Earlier, 2000-2003, he worked as a risk manager and was one of the four founding partners of Avenir, an equity l/s fund in Helsinki. He started his career in Pension-Varma in 1996 and worked first as an economist and then as a strategist covering macro and investment analysis as well as asset allocation and risk management tasks.

Jarkko has served as a member of UN PRI hedge fund advisory board since 2014. He chaired the PRI working group which helped to formulate the first industry-standard responsible investment due diligence questionnaire for hedge funds. Jarkko has been a frequent speaker in industry events and well recognized related to responsible investment topics linked to hedge funds. He holds MSc (economics) degree from the University of Tampere, Finland.

Nicolas Louis Salomon

Nicolas Salomon is head of Alternative products at the pension fund management unit of CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, based in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Pension fund is managing approximately CHF4bn in assets. He acts on the implementation of an innovative alternative portfolio.

Prior to joining the CERN pension fund, Mr. Salomon was heading the operations department at Bank of China (Suisse) Fund Management SA.

Before that, he was a founder of Bedrock Alternative Asset Management, a subsidiary of Bedrock Holding. He setup the middle-office activity and played an important role in the implementation of the investment strategy.

Prior to that he worked at Cedar Partners a Single and funds of hedge funds firm in Geneva and was responsible for the middle-office activity.

He held a similar position at AIB/Mourant in Jersey and Bank of New-York in Ireland.

He holds a MSc in Finance and MSc in Accounting. He is lecturer at the University of South-Brittany (France) on courses related to alternative investments.

Shirin Ismail

Shirin Ismail, CFA, Senior Vice President and Head of Alternatives, joined Fullerton Fund Management Company on its formation in 2003. In her current role, she is responsible for portfolio investments into global funds including hedge funds. Prior to joining Fullerton, Shirin was with the Fund Management Division of Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited since November 2000, where she was a fixed income portfolio manager specializing in European bonds. With more than 20 years of experience in fixed income, FX forwards, money market, derivatives trading and portfolio management, Shirin previously work in the treasury dealing room of DBS Bank, Singapore from 1992-2000, managing the ACU money market book, European and Asian FX forwards, interest rate derivatives trading, bonds as well as asset & liability management. Shirin was voted as one of the 50 Leading Women in Hedge Funds 2011 and 2013 by The Hedge Fund Journal. She graduated from Nanyang Technological University of Singapore with a First Class Honours Degree in Business (Banking & Insurance) in 1992. As a key management partner, Ronnie was also responsible for the overall business direction of Penjing. He was the co-founder of Vision Investment Management (Asia) Ltd (VIM) in 2000. William Ma

Mr. William Ma, CFA, CAIA, is the Chief Investment Officer of Noah Holdings (Hong Kong) Limited and the Chief Investment Officer of Gopher Asset Management. Gopher is one the largest Fund of Hedge Funds manager in China with US$25 billion AUM. Previously Mr. Ma was the CIO of Gottex Penjing Asset Management (GPAM), the Asia asset management arm of Gottex Fund Management, a Swiss-listed alternative investment management firm. At GPAM, Mr. Ma managed US$2 billion of client assets and the Asian investment team, and was the lead portfolio manager of all of Gottex’s Asian fund of hedge funds focusing on portfolio management, hedge fund due diligence and manager selection. Prior to joining GPAM, Mr. Ma was Co-Founder and Portfolio Manager of Penjing Asset Management managing Asian funds of hedge funds. Before co-founding Penjing in 2005, he worked at Vision Investment Management (Asia) Ltd specializing in Asian hedge funds due diligence. Previously, he served as a research analyst at HT Capital Management Ltd, a Pan Asia Long/Short equity hedge fund management firm.

Mr. Ma received his BEng (EESE) from the University of Hong Kong and his MBA in Finance and E-Commerce from the University of San Francisco, and was invited to Peking University in Beijing in 2002 as an exchange student representative in the Beijing International MBA (BiMBA) program. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst charter holder, and a member of the Hong Kong Society of Financial Analysts.
